LABORATORIES

LABORATORIES

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has well-equipped and spacious laboratories with all state-of-the-art facilities for experimentation at UG and PG levels.

ELECTRONICS LABORATORY

All basic electronic devices and their characteristics, applications can be studied in this laboratory. This lab is equipped with major devices like function generators, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope, Digital Storage Oscilloscope and basic electronic devices like Diode, BJT, JFET, MOSFET etc., The students are trained for assembling the components on bread board, designing different electronic circuits. The students also design and test the working of various electronic circuits with the help of PSPICE software.

COMMUNICATION LABORATORY

The Communication Laboratory provides hands-on practical training in the diversified fields of Analog and Digital communication, starting from the principles of modulation up to the recent concepts of Advanced Communication Systems. This Laboratory has been equipped with AM/FM kits, ASK/FSK kits, Pulse Code Modulation kit and many other experimental kits. All PCs are connected to the internet and loaded with software for the simulation of circuits and systems. This laboratory focuses on training the students in both analog and digital transmission/reception of signal.

OPTICAL AND MICROWAVE LABORATORY

Optical and Microwave laboratory provides an opportunity to explore the concepts in optical devices and microwave systems in a laboratory setting with an emphasis on measurement techniques. This lab is well equipped with all required equipment’s like various optical trainer kits for measuring numerical aperture, losses, analog and digital transmission, mode characteristics and microwave active devices like klystron, Gunn diode, passive devices such as isolator, circulator, directional coupler etc.

MICROPROCESSOR AND MICROCONTROLLER LABORATORY

Microprocessors and Microcontrollers laboratory helps the students to develop their knowledge on processor architecture and the programming skills. This lab mainly equipped with 8085,8086 microprocessors and 8051 microcontroller kits and interfacing peripherals for various applications. The skills acquired through the experiments help the students to do their projects and enhance their knowledge on the latest trends and technologies.

LIC AND DIGITAL LABORATORY

All analog and digital IC related experiments can be carried out in this laboratory. The students are trained to design IC741 Op-amp and 555 timer-based application circuits using bread boards and Linear trainer kits. IC Testers are available to check analog and digital ICs.

Digital laboratory makes the students to understand the fundamentals of logic gates. Combinational and Sequential circuits are designed using various digital ICs. Explosive development and exciting progress have occurred to keep in pace with technology by providing Digital trainer kits with Breadboard area and in-built power supply.

VLSI LABORATORY

In VLSI lab, the students are trained to design digital circuits using Hardware Description Languages and also its implementation on FPGAs. This lab will familiarize the students to design entry and simulation of combinational logic circuits, sequential circuits etc. Test bench creation, functional verification and concepts of concurrent and sequential execution is highlighted.

EMBEDDED SYSTEM LABORATORY

This lab will familiarize the students with ARM kit and programming various interfacing circuits like UART communication, I2C communication etc. The engineer who understands the microcontroller knows how to use it in industrial applications will be a leader in their firm.

DSP LABORATORY

Digital signal processing laboratory helps the students to learn, analyze and design the techniques that give core knowledge for DSP engineers to develop the laboratory aims at supporting the teaching and research activities in the area of DSP. The laboratory has both software tools and DSP processors- both fixed point and floating point. The laboratory has licensed MATLAB software with various Tool boxes and Simulink.

COMPUTER NETWORKS LABORATORY

Network laboratory is designed and developed considering the curriculum offered by Anna University. Trainer kits utilized in the network laboratory enable the students to understand the concepts of data communication, data transfer using serial and parallel ports, Ethernet and wireless LAN with complete protocol understanding and actual hands on with hardware and software with ease. The students also get hands on with experiments using LAN Trainer Kits which help to monitor network usage and bandwidth. Also, this laboratory is equipped with Network Simulator software.
