National Service Scheme (NSS)
National Service Scheme has been introduced at the University of North Bengal since 1982. Launched in the Mahatma Gandhi birth centenary year 1969, as a student youth service program, National Service Scheme (NSS) aims at arousing social consciousness of the youth with an overall objective of personality development of the students through community service. Our college has a N.S.S unit under the care of trained Programme Officer. It undertakes regular social service activities including adult education programs and health camps in nearby villages.
Motto - "Not me, but you”
Theme - “Healthy Youth for Healthy India”
NSS attempts to establish meaningful linkages between
1. Campus and community
2. College and villages
3. Knowledge and action
1. Fourteen Training and Orientation Centers (TOC)
2. Four Training Orientation & Research Centers (TORC)
Planning, implementation, monitoring, supervision, evaluation and providing necessary advice are done from the Office of the Program Coordinator at the university. The records of activities are maintained by the office of the Program Coordinator and accounts are maintained by the finance branch of the university. The college units are basic units which function under one Program Officer on the basis of periodical instructions issued from the office of the Program Coordinator.
